These first two pictures are what sparked my interest in bird photography. The Red Tailed Hawk, Red Winged Blackbird, and Robin all hung around just long enough for me to get this picture and I loved how it turned out.
Red Tailed Hawk, one of the first bird pictures I was actually proud of. This hawk or its children still hang around in the area.
Hoolie the Great Horned Owl from a Three Rivers Avian Center photography workshop in October 2022. She's such a beautiful bird.
Hoolie the Great Horned Owl at a Three Rivers Avian Center photography workshop in 2022. She had just gotten set up here and then saw their Red Tailed Hawk and poofed up. Super cool to see.
Gimli the American Kestrel from the Three Rivers Avian Center Photography Workshop in 2022. We got to see them feed this little guy. Amazing little birds.
Riffle the Barred Owl from Three Rivers Avian Center. I was really happy with how this one turned out.

Hoolie from Three Rivers Avian Center. Love how detailed this one turned out with the little feathers around her face
Regis from Three Rivers Avian Center. She had a lot to say that day.

Turkey Vulture near my house landing to check out a dead deer. The wingspan and size of these birds is always wild to see in person.
We saw this Great Blue Heron in South Carolina looking over a pond for some food. It stayed perched like this for several minutes.
I was able to get this Great Egret landing in a shallow pond in South Carolina a few years ago. Very pretty birds.
I believe these are Hooded Mergansers. Cool and odd looking little ducks. I loved the light in this picture.
Northern Cardinals always look so striking in the snow.
Cute little Tufted Titmouse all puffed up in the cold weather
One of the better Red Tailed Hawk pictures I've gotten in flight.
Super serious Red Tailed Hawk
Greedy little Chickadee stuffing two seeds in it's beak at a time
This Mockingbird was a pest but it did give me one of my favorite pictures by preening its tailfeathers in some great lighting.
Such beautiful birds
I couldn't believe I was able to get these shots. These two were circling around each other for just a minute or two and came close enough to each other to capture them in the same frame. I'm not sure, but I assume the one with it's legs down is maybe a juvenile that isn't as used to flying.

This American Kestrel near my house was my nemesis for quite a while. We would spot it and by the time I would get my camera it would be gone. I think this is one of the first decent pictures I got of it. They are very cool looking little birds.
I believe this was in the pond beside Blenko Glass Company in Milton, WV.
We see this White-Breasted Nuthatch around fairly regularly. They're funny to watch hop around the trees, usually hopping sideways several inches at a time.
American Robin in the snow at the Sutton Dam in Sutton, WV
Another of our Nuthatch. The way they point like this is so interesting.
Pretty little Eastern Bluebird on a powerline near sunset.
These Canada Geese were at the Green Bottom Wildlife Management Area near Lesage, WV. They walked around the little lake there for quite a while before taking off.
This Northern Flicker was having a great day walking around our yard and finding all kinds of grubs.

The coloration of these Starlings is so striking in the sun. This guy was pretty happy with its catch.
This Common Raven (which actually isn't very common in WV) was perched on this light pole in the rain on Rt. 60 near Kanawha Falls, WV. Love how moody this picture is.
I finally started getting some decent pictures of our American Kestrel friend. Such a cool little guy.
Our American Kestrel caught a mouse, you can see it just under it's tail feathers. Thanks buddy!

This duck was just chilling in the parking lot of Blenko Glass in Milton WV. Completely unbothered.
My first wild owl! We'd heard this Barred Owl behind our house for months, but this snowstorm brought it out for me to grab a couple shots of. Super happy with these shots.

We have a few Blue Jays around our house and I'm still not thrilled with the pictures I've gotten of them. I think this is one of the better ones I've gotten though.
Another Red Winged Blackbird at Hawk Knob
This Starling has a nest in the mouth of this metal rooster! Love how this one turned out.

I'm surprised I was able to salvage this picture. This is a Broad-Winged Hawk, and it was a very hot day when I saw it. My lens fogged up really badly, but I was able to bring it back I think. Super neat birds, there were two of them calling back and forth to each other all day long.
